A runny nose may not be just a runny nose

This patient had clear watery runny nose coming from one side of the nose every time she leaned forward.

It turned out to be brain fluid or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and the patient runs the risk of developing brain infection (meningitis).

Fortunately, repair of the leak can now be done endoscopically through the nose.

Many other brain or skull base operations can now be done safely through the nose without having to crack open the skull!
